Machine Learning Engineer at SnkeOS GmbH (Munich, Germany)

    2023 - today

As a Machine Learning Engineer at SnkeOS, a subsidary of BrainLab AG, I am developing deep learning applications for medical images. In addition to research into new model architectures, I am also integrating the resulting networks into a production environment.

PhD Student at the Pattern Recognitions Lab at FAU (Erlangen, Germany)

    2020 - today

In my PhD I am working on the detection of arthritis in medical imaging data and clinical data. Especially, the collaboration with the clinic in Erlangen is a very interesting part of the PhD. The tools developed can be tested directly in a clinical context and the feedback from the clinicians really motivates me.

Master Thesis at FAU (Erlangen, Germany)

    Feb. 2020 - Jul. 2020

In my master thesis the I worked on MRI data of the shoulder to identify pathologies using an automated system. For this purpose, a special loss function that converges on high class imbalance was developed. Additionally, I developed a special architecture that could fuse spatial information about the pathology into the classification network. Different neural network architectures and training schemes were compared finally.

Internship at Siemens Healthineers (Princeton, NJ, US)

    Oct. 2019 - Apr. 2020

During my internship in Princeton, NJ, I was working in a team of Data Scientists on AI systems for the automated assessment of pathologies in MRI scans.

Working Student at Siemens Healthineers (Forchheim, Germany)

    Jan. 2019 - Oct. 2019

In my part-time working student position in a software development team, we were working on automated segmentation of non-patient structures in CT scans using deep learning methods. In addition to running neural network experiments, we also annotated the data using Siemens' syngo.via.

  • Draeger icon.

Working Student at Dräger (Lübeck, Germany)

    Feb. 2018 - Apr. 2018

During my first working student position at a medical device manufacturer, I designed electronic circuits for the flow measurements of neonatal ventilators. Additionally, I could get a hands-on experience evaluating different sensor statistics in a controlled environment.

    Internship at Dräger (Lübeck, Germany)

    Oct. 2017 - Jan. 2018

At my internship at Dräger I worked on the modularization of anesthesia machines using network-connected microcontrollers and programmed the controllers in C.

Bachelor Studies at Lübeck University (Lübeck, Germany)

    2014 - 2017

In my bachelor studies, I learned the anatomical and physiological basics of the human. In addition to the engineering basics, I also learned programming during my bachelor's.
